The recently elected 47th president of the United States of America, Donald Trump decisively beat the Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5 election, declared main omissions for the following term. Trump also on Truth Social said he will not be calling Mike Pompeo – the former Secretary of State, or Nikki Haley, the former UN Ambassador for a spot in his new team.
During Trump’s first term (2017 to 2021), Pompeo was both CIA Director and later Secretary of State, while Haley was the US UN envoy for the first two years of Trump’s presidency. Both of them, however, decided to run in the presidential elections as outsiders in the Republican primaries. Pompeo left early, while Haley was among Trump’s last contenders until February this year when she endorsed him during the Republican National Convention in July.
Trump’s announcement helped explain why there are no such individuals in his administration despite the fact that they volunteered to work for his campaign. “I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join the Trump Administration which is still being assembled,” Trump wrote. However he said; “I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously and would like to extend my thanks to all of them for their services to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump is 78, and he will return to lead in January 2025 when he got inaugurated for the second time after the first presidency ended in January 2021. The exclusion of Pompeo and Haley is significant as Trump prepares a new team for another term that he is preparing to spend at the White House.
