Mumbai Police arrested 24-year-old Fatima Khan for threatening Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of murder on November 3. Since obtaining her BSc in Information Technology, Khan lives with her family in Thane, Maharashtria, while her father works for the timber business in Ulhasnagar. Police are said to have said that Khan is mentally disturbed.
The threat was made through the Mumbai Traffic Police WhatsApp number where the message was delivered and had accused Adityanath of being involved inнад The threat was also a threat to kill him too if he fails to resign from his post within 10 days; same as NCP leader Baba Siddique. In their effort to solve this case, the police were able to track that message to Khan. The police including the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra along with the Ulhasnagar police launched an operation to arrest her. Police are still working on the case.
Police are alert due to Yogi Adityanath’s move to campaign for the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly polls that is to be held on November 20.
The connection with Baba Siddique in the threat made by Khan ties to his recent assassination. Siddique, an NCP leader and a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead by three people on October 12 in Bandra in Mumbai. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital but died soon after from the injuries. That time Siddique was under ‘Y’ category security threat because he had received a death threat two weeks prior to the incident.
It seems that after tensions around the approaching elections and Adityanath’s probable arrival, Mumbai Police are already paying attention to further actions.
