The Jharkhand BJP has published the second list of the assembly election candidates that included Gamliyel Hembrom for Barhait seat where he would fight with the incumbent CHIEF MINISTER HEMANT SAREN. Soren, presently sitting MLA from Barhait in the Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district was elected in 2019 with a margin of 25,740 over BJP’s candidate Simon Malto. Soren successfully contested both Dumka and Barhait seats in the 2019 assembly elections, but chose to hold Barhait seat as it was ST (Scheduled Tribe) reserved seat. While contesting the 2019 Assembly polls, Hembrom who was an AJSU candidate secured 2,573 votes from Barhait assembly constituency.
The BJP also declared Vikash Mahto its Tundi assembly seat aspirant. This second list comes after the party released it’s first one on 19th October, which had 66 nominees. The polls for the 81 seat Jharkhand assembly will see BJP field 68 candidates and other 13 seats will be for its partners. But the JMM has declared candidates for 43 seats just like in the 2019 electoral exercise where it had contested for 43 seats out of which it won 30.
The elections will be conducted in two rounds on November 13 and 20, and the results should be declared on November 23. The opposition INDIA bloc will fight together where Congress and JMM are likely to contest 70 out of the 81 assembly seats, RJD and Left parties will fight in the remaining 11 assembly seats.
However, BJP has external support of AJSU which is going to 10 seats, JD(U) 2 and LJP(Ram Vilas) 1. The JMM was able to grab 47 seats in the 2019 elections as part of its alliance leaving BJP which previously got 25 seats. There will will be over 2,60,00,000 of the total electorated which comprises from 11,84,000 first time voters, PwD, voters from the third gender and senior citizen voters of above 85 years.
