The founder of the Anand Group, Deep C Anand, died on October 25 at aged 91. Last rites will be performed on October 27 at the company’s office at Hauz Khas.
Bishop Cotton School, Shimla educated Anand passed Mechanical engineering from Chippenham College of Technology, United Kingdom Anand started his career in 1954 as plant manager at Mahindra at Mumbai. Aggressive at the age of 27, he started his first company known as GABRIEL INDIA which is the’representing the Anand group’ to begin manufacturing of shock absorbers in India with Maremont Corporation USA as the joint venture partner.
In the next 60 years the Anand Group forged successful partnerships with leading auto majors. Among these were CY Myutec of Korea, Dana Holding Corporation of the USA, Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies of France, Federal-Mogul of the USA, Haldex AB of Sweden, Henkel Teroson GmbH of Germany, MAHLE Behr Holding GmbH of Germany, MAHLE Filtersysteme GmbH of Germany, Mando Corporation of Korea, Takata Corporation of Japan and Valeo of France. Many cooperations were also helpful for the future of Anand Group and its successful presence in the Indian automotive market.
The Group also entered into technical partnership with many automobile giants like KONI BV – Netherlands, KYB Corporation – Japan, KYBSE – Spain, LIQUI MOLY GmbH – Germany, Sango – Japan, Sunrise MSI – Japan, Yamaha Motor Hydraulic Systems – Japan.
Currently, the sales turnover of the Anand Group was Rs 9,000 crore in 2017. Today, it offers thousands of auto components to almost all OEMs in India and is a leader in export business worldwide.
