Saba Azad and Hrithik Roshan have definitely been one of the most talked about couples in Bollywood. Even if they have a deep friendship, Saba has frequently borne the brunt of online bullying because of being associated with the celebrity. Nevertheless, the actress-singer has confessed to having rather acquired a ‘tough skin’ and that she is now immune to bad remarks.
In an open chat with SCREEN, Saba Azad shared her view on online trolling as also how she has managed to deal with it. She noted that, on social media, negativity frequently is driven by individual dissatisfaction. Whenever the level of discontentment of the population increases, this type of behavior online increases. If you are a happy person, you won’t make fake accounts and troll people. Why would I care about someone from back and beyond, who is faceless, nameless, and frustrated with their lives? Saba remarked.
The actress-singer also disclosed that although online insulting at the beginning distressed her, at present she has stopped paying attention to it. She also confessed that, in the beginning, she did not understand why her personal life was so popular. When I first started, I was thinking ‘if I’m not doing anything to get in trouble, why should you be bothered? But then, as I wrap my head around it, this is just sad and it’s not worth losing sleep over, she said.
Saba has been able to develop resilience over time to social media negativity. “Now, I have developed a thick skin for it. I may have turned the other cheek for a long time, but once in a while, I feel that I still have some bite. You just can’t keep on bombarding me and expect me to shut up (and keep quiet). I don’t care what such people say now, she stated firmly.
Aside from dealing with online trolling, Saba also spoke about her relationship with social media itself. She explained her use of digital spaces as erratic, confessing to be an infrequent user. “I am quite terrible with social media. I get three days of posting and then I go silent for a month. To be sure, for performing artists, it has become in some way a portfolio. There’s one that is a ‘Can’t live with, can’t live without’ sort of affair. It’s a platform to make money from brands and ads, ”she said.
In 2022, when they appeared at filmmaker Karan Johar’s grand 50th birthday party, hand-in-hand, Saba and Hrithik announced their relationship in public. Since then, the couple has frequently been spotted together at events and vacations, capturing the attention of fans and the media alike.
Hrithik Roshan was previously married to Sussanne Khan. The couple tied the knot in 2000 but decided to part ways in 2014. Despite the distance, Hrithik and Sussanne have always kept a cordial relationship and are co-parenting their two boys, Hrehaan and Hridaan Roshan.
Although Hrithik and Saba’s relationship has been in full public eye, their consistent support and love towards each other is rather clear. Social media or public events aside, the couple consistently displays kinship and cohesion.
Notwithstanding the difficulties of being under public eyes, Saba Azad, unfortunately, does not shy away from criticism and keeps on progressing towards her career and her own development. With a pragmatic approach to social media and a strong support system, she has managed to turn online trolling into mere background noise.
Saba’s candid take on online negativity and her approach to handling social media serve as a reminder that public figures, like everyone else, navigate challenges in their personal lives. Its resilient, self-confident attitude conveys a strong message to those people weathering similar experiences in cyberspace. Staying true to oneself proves to be the perfect counter to unwarranted criticism, as she continues her career in the entertainment industry, Saba Azad proves that.
