The aircraft, an Embraer 190, was flying from the capital city of Azerbaijan, Baku, to the southern Russian city of Astrakhan as flight J2-8243 when it came down near Aktau, Kazakhstan, the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said. The airplanes were carrying passengers including 62 individuals and five crew members. It tried to make an emergency landing about 3 km (1.8 miles) away from Aktau after claiming that visibility was low in Grozny, its planned second destination.
Out of the people onboard, 28 people, two of them being children, were injured and hospitalized, the rest of the 4 people were found dead as reported by the Russian Interfax news agency. The fire was put out by 150 emergency responders who also proceeded with search – and – rescue operations. The passengers were citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Kirgyzstan.

Russia’s aviation watchdog proposed that a bird strike could be a possible cause for the pilot to choose to make an emergency landing. Kazakhstan has already started an investigation; it has sent a government commission to the scene and has ensured that families of the victims are provided with assistance.
The Azerbaijani leader, Ilham Aliyev, was at a summit in Russia when the crash occurred, and, like many leaders, flew home for a few hours before returning to the summit. Russian President Vladimir Putin also extended the condolences, as did a Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. Kadyrov said that all those taken to the hospital were in grave condition and wished them to be cured.
Other possible causes being investigated includes technical when the crash occurred yesterday. The Brazilian Embraer 190 that crashed has drawn international focus on the matter, demanding support and investigation into the disaster.
Currently, the authorities of Kazakhstan, with the help of foreign colleagues, are working on the most accurate staging of the flight that led to the tragedy. On the other hand, the region davits for the victims and pray for the survival of the other victims.
