Indian cricketer having fabulous experience Ravichandran Ashwin has declared retirement from international cricket in all three formats. The decision was made after the cricketer was interviewed during the post third Test against Australia when the match was stalemate. The announcement saw Ashwin being flanked by skipper Rohit Sharma.
Ashwin bowled his last international delivery as the second-highest wicket-taker in India’s Test history, having claimed 537 wickets in 106 Test matches. He ranks only second in the record books behind Anil Kumble who scored 619 wickets in 132 tests.
But even in the shorter formats of the limited-overs cricket, Ashwin excelled himself. He played in 116 ODIs, got 156 ODI wickets and played in 65 T20Is, and got 72 T20I wickets.
Even though Ashwin is bowing out of international cricket, he is set to play for domestic and franchise cricket leagues. IPL 2025 auction carried out in Jeddah Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought off his services for a staggering sum of ₹ 9.75 crore.
Ashwin’s last game for India presently was in the Day/Night pink ball test match against Australia in Adelaide where he took one wicket but lost the match by 10 wickets .
A prominent Indian player, Ashwin became the face of that Indian success, playing in the 2011 World Cup and taking part in both of India’s World Test Championship finals.
