Young Tiger Telugu superstar Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday as families were attacked during a tragic event at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premier of his movie Pushpa 2. It happened on December 4, killing Revathi aged 39 and a son seriously injured in the attack at the time this article was written.
The Hyderabad police having cordoned off the area around his house arrested Arjun from his house. Facebook and Twitter exploded with images of the actor wearing a hoodie with the caption, ‘Flower nahi, fire hai mein’. Arjun was then arrested and after taking him to Chikkadpally police station a case was filed against Arjun and the others.
Charges Against Arjun
The actor, along with his security team and theatre management, faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including:
- Section 105: Culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
- Section 118(1): Causing hurt .
Continuing with the investigation, Arjun is scheduled to be cleared thermally after he sits for a medical checkup at Osmania Hospital.
What Happened?
The stampede happened due to an inflated crowd which wanted to get a close look at Arjun and his co-star Rashmika Mandanna. Information disclosed inadequate management of crowd in the area, with no proper access and egress. This worsened when the gates acceded to pressure and gave in.
Magudampalli Bhaskar, Revathi’s husband lodged a complaint saying the security personnel who accompanied Arjun had allegedly elbowed her and she fainted seeing the commotion going on.
Allu Arjun’s Response
Arjun condemned the tragedy and committed Rs 25 lakh to the bereaved family and paid for the medical bills of Revathi’s son. In fact, when asked about *Pushpa 2* success, which has crossed Rs 1,000 crore worldwide, Arjun readily agreed that the tragedy has undoubtedly dominated the success.
Arjun has filed his petition in the Telangana High Court, although a date for the hearing has not been called.
